Job Summary
Elementary Visual Arts Teacher – 2026-2027. Responsible for delivering visual arts instruction to elementary students, creating and maintaining a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, instructing and inspiring students to develop artistic skills, and helping each child reach their potential. Develop and implement curriculum with the Fine Arts Department, maintain accurate student records, communicate with parents and stakeholders, attend district meetings and department events, and adhere to district, board, state, and federal policies. Requires strong communication, classroom management, collaboration with coordinators and administrators, and commitment to professional growth.
Required Qualifications
- Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License with Visual Arts and/or Self-Contained General Education or Required Endorsement
- Highly proficient in at least one art medium
- Familiar with Visual Arts methods, literature, and classroom techniques
- Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, public and community relations, and academic competence
- Effective behavior management skills
- Ability to structure a classroom to maximize student learning
- Effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to establish effective communication with parents, students, and staff
- Ability to follow district policies and Fine Arts department guidelines
- Ability to attend meetings and participate in professional development
