Job Summary
Elementary School Teacher responsible for co-teaching in a culturally-responsive, fast-paced learning environment. Teach mathematics, reading and writing to build literacy skills, ELA curriculum, science (geology, astronomy, ecology, climate change), and social studies with emphasis on diverse histories and civic awareness. Meet weekly with principal/ instructional coach to analyze student work and differentiate instruction. Build positive relationships with students and families, participate in weekly school-wide meetings, and support daily routines and school culture. Engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching; contribute to academic goal setting with grade-level teams. Requires a bachelor's degree and NY state certification eligibility; 1-2 years of urban teaching experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Certification not required to be hired at Uncommon, but must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Enrollment in a teacher preparation program and maintain GPA 2.5 or higher if no degree in education
- Desire to impact K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years preferred)
