Job Summary
Promote the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of any student assigned by using available instructional materials and a variety of techniques to provide opportunities for achievement. Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate developmental practices for young children while developing and implementing proper classroom management techniques. Plan and prepare for classes by submitting weekly lesson plans and actively participate in the evaluation process to continually evaluate student progress. Maintain accurate records including class lists, attendance, health records, and report cards while keeping the classroom attractive and reporting unsafe conditions. Cooperate with school-based and central office personnel, encourage parents to be informed of student progress, and conform to Louisiana laws concerning student education, health, and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Eligible for a Practitioner's License as confirmed by a local university
- College Degree
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
- Certification in area of assignment
- Ability to accurately give and receive information via tele-communication system
- Ability to communicate successfully and pleasantly with students, parents, and school personnel
- Ability to plan and implement appropriate education programs for all students
- Ability to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions
- Ability to keep accurate, up-to-date written and verbal instructions
- Ability to comply with state and parish regulations
- Ability to utilize effective classroom management techniques
- Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, and school personnel
- Ability to respond positively to supervision and accept suggestions for improvement
- Ability to physically transfer, restrain or position special education students as required
- Ability to operate classroom equipment
- Ability to lift 10 pounds
