Job Summary
Promote the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of any student assigned using available instructional materials and developmental practices. Plan and prepare for classes weekly, submit lesson plans, and continuously evaluate student progress to address individual needs. Maintain an attractive classroom, keep accurate records including attendance and health files, and develop proper classroom management techniques. Cooperate with school-based personnel, encourage informed parents, and participate in faculty meetings and inservice training. Conforms to Louisiana laws regarding student safety and welfare while assisting in the development of quality education in Jefferson Parish Public Schools.
Required Qualifications
- ability to accurately give and receive information via tele-communication system
- ability to communicate successfully and pleasantly with students, parents, and school personnel
- ability to plan and implement appropriate education programs for all students
- ability to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions
- ability to keep accurate, up-to-date written and verbal instructions
- ability to comply with state and parish regulations
- ability to utilize effective classroom management techniques
- standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting 10 pounds
- ability to operate classroom equipment
- ability to physically transfer, restrain or position special education students as required
