Job Summary
Assist the teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements while working under supervision. Uphold school rules and enforce administrative regulations. Conduct instructional exercises with individual students or small groups and assist in scoring objective testing instruments. Supervise students throughout the school day inside and outside the classroom, maintain a neat environment, and manage physical education equipment inventory. Keep the teacher informed of special needs and maintain administrative records. Participate in faculty meetings and provide orientation to substitute teachers.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university
- Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas
- Some experience working with children
- Ability to work well with children
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Light to moderate lifting 15-44 lbs
- Moderate to heavy carrying
- Ability to see and monitor student's activity
- Regular attendance
Desired Qualifications
- Three creditable years of experience as an educational aide I or II
- Completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas
- Experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent
- Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense)
