Job Summary
Assist the classroom teacher by supporting instruction for individual students and groups, reinforce material introduced by the teacher, read to students, supervise activities, handle clerical tasks, manage behavior per school policy, communicate with parents as directed, supervise during meals, bus, drills, and field trips, and may substitute as needed. Requires ability to lift up to 20 pounds and to perform essential classroom duties with confidentiality and professionalism; HS diploma/GED required with preferred associate’s degree and/or WorkKeys credentials. 10-month schedule at McDougle Elementary School within Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have either 48 semester hours of education earned/passed, or 7 hours in core area and passing scores on WorkKeys tests for Reading, Writing, and Mathematics, or 96 Contact Hours and WorkKeys tests for Reading, Writing, and Mathematics
- Associate's Degree preferred
