Job Summary
Promote the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students using available instructional materials and developmental practices. Plan and prepare weekly lesson plans, maintain accurate records including attendance and health files, and develop proper classroom management techniques. Provide individualized support for student differences while cooperating with school-based personnel and encouraging informed parent engagement. Conform to Louisiana laws regarding student safety and welfare, and participate in faculty meetings and inservice training. Work in a climate-controlled school setting or outside areas, adhering to bargaining unit hours and reporting promptly for all duties.
Required Qualifications

- ability to plan and implement appropriate education programs for all students
- ability to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions
- ability to keep accurate, up-to-date written and verbal instructions
- ability to comply with state and parish regulations
- ability to utilize effective classroom management techniques
- standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting 10 pounds
- ability to operate classroom equipment
- ability to physically transfer, restrain or position special education students as required
