Job Summary

Modify, differentiate, and teach an inclusive curriculum while collaborating with families to develop 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Manage a caseload of IEPs by gathering academic growth data, writing plans, and participating in meetings alongside general education teachers and school leaders. Provide academic, emotional, and physical support through pull-out, push-in, small group, and one-on-one instruction to ensure students feel empowered as self-guided learners. Build positive relationships with students and partner with families to secure necessary resources, while engaging in practice-based professional development and weekly school-wide meetings to model core values.

Required Qualifications

  • A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities
  • 1-2 years experience preferred
  • Academic expertise in Special Education, the Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, or related fields of study
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • NY state certification eligibility requirements
  • Enrollment in a teacher preparation program
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment if not having a degree in education
  • Certification in the state of New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
