Job Summary

Elementary Special Education Teacher for students with cognitive impairments. Responsibilities include assessing students, developing and implementing IEPs with the IEP team and parents, maintaining lesson plans and records, creating developmentally appropriate curriculum, collaborating with general education teachers and administrators, and integrating technology to support learning. Requires strong communication, ability to implement research-based instructional strategies across math, reading, and writing, knowledge of data collection techniques to monitor growth, and adherence to IDEA and Michigan Special Education Rules for caseload students. Must hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate K-12 and a Special Education CI endorsement, with a commitment to educating students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. Additional duties as assigned; occasional travel or in-school duties as needed. Location: Chapman Elementary, Gibraltar School District, Michigan.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate K-12
  • Certification in Special Education with CI (SA) Endorsement
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
