Job Summary

Elementary Special Education Teacher Life Skills responsibilities include meeting and instructing assigned classes at designated times and locations, planning a program of study aligned with district goals, creating a conducive classroom environment, communicating clear objectives to students, preparing for classes with documented evidence, employing diverse instructional techniques, implementing district educational philosophy, assessing student progress, maintaining records as required by law and policy, diagnosing learning challenges with district specialist collaboration, safeguarding students and materials, supervising paraprofessionals, and engaging in ongoing professional growth and district-based professional development.

Required Qualifications

  • Highly qualified with required competency in the content area; and
  • Appropriate content/ program area educator license (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities) and grade level (PreK-8) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education; and
  • Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or
  • Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
