Job Summary

Assist classroom teachers and special education staff with delivering quality education and support services for students in various classroom settings. Implement, support, and adjust academic programming as directed; participate in program planning to develop student instructional plans. Provide physical care for students, including lifting and daily living activities, while maintaining appropriate supervision. Maintain program records, monitor student progress, and ensure a safe, orderly, and sanitary school environment. Assist with proactive behavioral interventions, attend required meetings to plan for students, and perform other duties as assigned. Regular, predictable, and physical attendance is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or higher
  • Basic understanding, knowledge and ability to use current technology
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports
  • Ability to add, subtract and multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Ability to solve problems in a professional manner
  • Must be able to implement, support and adjust academic programming as directed by administration or the classroom teacher
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust, focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District
  • Regular, predictable and physical attendance
  • Ability to speak, hear, see and write clearly with or without assistive device(s)
  • Walk, stand for the full scheduled period, with minimal sitting options
  • Must be physically present, regularly required to sit
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
