Elementary Special Education Aide - SOAR (26-27)

Assist the special education teacher in providing physical, instructional, and behavioral support for students with significant or low incidence disabilities across special and general education settings. Implement classroom programs covering self-help, behavior management, and instruction while maintaining student records, audit folders, and instructional materials. Support teacher-planned activities, exercises, and drills, and help students with self-care tasks like feeding, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene. Supervise students during lunch, recess, outdoor activities, transitions, field trips, and bus loading/unloading. Carry out behavior interventions, therapy programs requiring lifting and positioning, and use appropriate physical safety techniques including restraint when necessary. Adhere to federal, state, and local policies, participate in training and professional growth activities, and provide orientation to substitute teachers. Maintain confidentiality and dress appropriately for job responsibilities.
