Job Summary
Elementary School Visual Arts Teacher responsible for delivering visual arts instruction to diverse elementary and middle school students in Springfield Public Schools. Responsibilities include planning a program of study aligned to district curriculum goals, meeting and instructing assigned classes, creating a conducive learning environment, assessing student progress, maintaining records, communicating with parents, and participating in professional growth and district meetings. Requires strong Visual Art content knowledge, effective classroom management, collaboration with district staff and paraprofessionals, and commitment to equity and ongoing professional development as part of a student-centered approach.
Required Qualifications
- State certification (Massachusetts) and appropriate Visual Art license for PreK-8
- Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years
