Job Summary
2nd Grade Elementary Teacher at a target school in Metairie, LA. Responsible for promoting the mental, physical, emotional and social growth of students, using instructional materials and a variety of teaching techniques to support achievement and development. Maintains accurate records (attendance, health records, report cards, and permanent folders), manages classroom behavior, plans weekly lessons, performs timely reporting, and coordinates with school-based and central office staff. Encourages parent involvement and communicates student progress. Requires Bachelor's Degree and valid teaching certificate (or eligibility for a Practitioner's License) with a 183-day work year. Eligible teachers may receive a $2,000 stipend for selecting a target school with high needs. Complies with Louisiana laws and Jefferson Parish policies, participates in professional growth and inservice training, and fulfills other duties assigned by the principal.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate or Eligible for Louisiana Practitioner's License
- Certification in area of assignment

- Student records management
- Ability to plan and implement education programs
- English communication skills (oral and written)
