Job Summary
Collaborate with staff to plan education interventions and behavior management while administering assessments like BASC and BERS to interpret results and recommend strategies. Serve on evaluation and child study teams to coordinate educational planning and student success, providing consultation on behavioral and social-emotional areas for general and special education staff. Maintain ongoing communication with families regarding student progress and act as a liaison between schools, parents, and community resources. Participate in staff meetings to improve instructional strategies and apply knowledge of Michigan and federal special education regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work
- Knowledge of State of Michigan and Federal Rules and Regulations regarding Special Education and Section 504, including special education eligibility process/evaluations and Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning
- Knowledge of seclusion and restraint procedures, emergency intervention plans and crisis de-escalation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators
