Job Summary
Develop and oversee a comprehensive physical education program, including health, sexual education, and mindfulness, for Harlem Elementary School. Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and mindfulness while designing, planning, and implementing lessons based on school district, state, and national standards. Create appealing lessons utilizing a variety of methodologies and measure student progress to encourage mastery of established standards. Ensure accommodations and modifications are made for all students, specifically those with disabilities on the ASD spectrum, and maintain a clean, safe, and constructive physical environment. Guide students in maintaining acceptable behavioral standards during classes and assist with school-based duties such as lunch, recess, and dismissal. Prepare for classes by maintaining written preparation for units throughout the year and demonstrate research-based strategies for effective classroom management and instructional delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Certification in one of the following: New York State 1-6, Special Education, eligible out of state certification, or willingness to work towards your permanent certification
- Bachelor's degree
