Job Summary
Conduct instructional leadership by planning, coordinating, and administering school activities including curriculum, instruction, assessment, student conduct, and plant operations. Supervise and evaluate licensed and classified personnel while managing school operations in the Principal's absence. Assist in interpreting district programs for students, parents, and staff; demonstrate leadership in developing positive behavior support systems and coordinating disciplinary interventions. Provide general supervision of students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and after-school activities. Review lesson plans, report cards, attendance reports, and student achievement data; chair Child Study, eligibility, and IEP team meetings to ensure Special Education compliance. Hold a Virginia teaching license with Administration endorsement, a Master's degree, and three years of teaching or administrative experience. Work 11 months (213 days), 7 hours daily, reporting to the Principal or Assistant Principal.
Required Qualifications
- Holds or is eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision PreK-12
- Holds a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Has a minimum of three years of successful experience as a teacher, administrator, or supervisor
- Possesses leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and the community
- Possesses strong communication, writing, and presentation skills which demonstrate the ability to assimilate, analyze, and present information clearly and concisely
- Possesses the ability to frequently sit
- Possesses the ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or student supplies
- Possesses the ability to reach with hands and arms
- Possesses the ability to regularly see, talk and hear
- Possesses the ability to frequently stand, walk and occasionally run
- Possesses the ability to occasionally move students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices
- Possesses the ability to occasionally travel on student field trips
- Possesses the ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or bend
- Possesses the ability to lift up to approximately 25 pounds
