ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNSELOR

The School Counselor will educate, assist, and facilitate students in academic achievement strategies, emotional management, interpersonal skills, and planning for postsecondary options (higher education, military, workforce). Responsibilities include facilitating individual student academic planning and goal setting, delivering counseling and classroom lessons, making referrals for long-term counseling, collaborating with families/teachers/administrators/community, advocating for students at IEP/related meetings, utilizing varied techniques and technology for brick-and-mortar and remote learners, and maintaining records. The role emphasizes data-driven strategies, professional ethics, and ongoing professional development, with requirements of a master's degree in school counseling and state certification/licensure, plus mentorship for less-experienced counselors. Regular attendance and adaptability to school needs are expected.
