Job Summary
Elementary School Counselor responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive school counseling program addressing academic, career, and personal/social development for all students. Provides direct counseling services, plans and evaluates the program in alignment with the NC Guidance Standard Course of Study, and communicates goals to education stakeholders. Collaborates with administrators, teachers, parents, and community leaders; maintains resources; uses data to inform program delivery; conducts program audit and accountability activities; utilizes technology resources; adheres to ethical standards of the counseling profession; requires the ability to coordinate support services and outside agencies. Major duties include delivery of the comprehensive counseling program, collaboration with staff to integrate guidance curricula, development of group and individual counseling services, and ongoing professional development. Physical/cognitive requirements and a 10-month term of employment are noted in the description. The role requires a Masters Level School Counselor license (or provisional license eligibility) and emphasizes professional communication, data interpretation, and program effectiveness monitoring.
Required Qualifications
- Masters Level School Counselor License
- provisional license possible with: (a) Masters degree in Agency Counseling, Clinical Mental Health, Community Counseling, or Rehabilitation Counseling from a regionally accredited college or university, OR (b) completion of a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in a school counselor program.
