Job Summary
Deliver daily standards-aligned reading instruction to first and second grade students using evidence-based practices in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing. Administer literacy assessments to inform targeted small-group instruction and monitor student progress, adjusting lessons based on data. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs while collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure alignment between literacy and classroom learning. Foster habits of excellence, supervise students during transitions and recess, and lead family communication regarding literacy progress. Participate in Child Study, MTSS, and IEP meetings as appropriate. Submit weekly lesson plans and engage in biweekly check-ins with the academic support team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Georgia certified teacher
- Two or more years of effective elementary teaching experience in a high-needs public school environment
- Demonstrated success teaching reading in the primary grades
- Knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction and the Science of Reading
- Experience using literacy assessment data to inform instruction
- Strong instructional practices and classroom management skills
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Warm and firm demeanor
- Ability to complete physical demands of the role (including standing and walking for extended periods and lifting objects up to 40 lbs.)
- Successful background check results
