Job Summary
Elementary Physical Education Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year at HOPE Community Academy. The role involves designing and delivering standards-aligned PE lessons for PreK–5, building a developmentally appropriate PE curriculum, fostering physical literacy and motor skill development, promoting social-emotional learning through PE, integrating health and wellness education, using assessments to guide instruction, maintaining a safe and structured gym environment, collaborating with teachers and families, supporting school-wide data conversations, and participating in school events. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a valid Minnesota K–12 Physical Education license or eligibility, with preferred two years of elementary-level PE teaching experience. Emphasizes culturally responsive instruction, equity, family and community engagement, and a joyful, inclusive gym culture. First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to start date.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field
- Valid Minnesota teaching license in Physical Education (K–12) required, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching physical education in an elementary or K–12 setting preferred; student teaching experience will be considered for exceptional candidates
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate physical education practices, national and state PE standards, and elementary motor skill development
- Experience designing and delivering culturally responsive instruction for diverse student populations, including English Learners and scholars with IEPs
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a structured, safe, and joyful learning environment with high expectations for all scholars
- Demonstrated ability to use assessment data to inform instruction and track scholar progress
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build authentic relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues
- Commitment to the social-emotional development of scholars and ability to integrate SEL practices into physical education
- Experience working with or in Hmong and/or other diverse communities is strongly preferred; proficiency in Hmong is a significant asset
- Deep commitment to educational equity, cultural responsiveness, and HOPE's mission and strategic priorities
- Ability to interact effectively with scholars, families, and staff of diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- First Aid and CPR certification required or willingness to obtain prior to start date
