Job Summary
Provide supplemental support and accelerated instruction to English learners (ELs) and emergent bilinguals (EBs) to attain English proficiency and content mastery. Collaborate with classroom teachers to model strategies, ensure appropriate accommodations, monitor and document student progress in English language acquisition for program placement and ESL continuation, and deliver high-quality instruction to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills using second language acquisition methods. Work with MTSS processes, LPAC/TELPAS requirements, and district trainings; contribute to staff development; engage families and the community in ESL program participation; and support campus initiatives with data-driven instructional planning. The role involves 187 duty days, exempt status, and coordination with the EB Coordinator and campus staff to accelerate language and content learning while meeting state academic standards.
Required Qualifications
- Certified ELA at instructional grade level
- ESL Certification
- Master’s Degree preferred
- 3 years teaching experience in English Language Arts and/or Special Education
- 3 years teaching experience with English learners/ emergent bilinguals
- Comprehensive understanding of EB needs, MTSS, inclusion and accommodations
- Strong data analysis, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and deliver campus-level staff development
- Experience with MTSS for EB students and 504/IEP considerations
- Experience implementing second language acquisition strategies and differentiated instruction
- Ability to track progress and provide reports (eSTAR, LPAC, TELPAS)
- Participate in district/campus trainings and PLCs
- Promote parental and community participation in ESL program
- Responsible for LPAC/TELPAS training and campus support
- Attend required district and campus meetings (ARD, MTSS, LPAC, 504)
- Be accountable to campus(s) served
- Familiarity with MTSS and EB accommodations
- Knowledge of content standards and language development indicators
