Job Summary
Elementary Classroom Teacher (grade 5) in Springfield Public Schools. Responsible for meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a program of study aligned with district goals and curriculum, creating a conducive learning environment, communicating objectives and progress to students and parents, employing varied instructional techniques, implementing district philosophy and performance expectations, assessing student progress, maintaining records, diagnosing learning challenges with district support, supervising paraprofessionals, and engaging in ongoing professional development and district meetings. Requires licensure in Elementary education (1-6) and a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred), with commitment to equity and Title IX nondiscrimination practices.
Required Qualifications
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area
- Appropriate content/ program area educator license (Elementary) and grade level (1-6) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or
- Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years
