Job Summary
Classroom Assistant supports the Classroom Teacher in meeting the physical and instructional needs of students, designs and prepares instructional materials, and implements activities for individual and small-group focus. Responsibilities include assisting with instructional exercises, supervising and instructing students in the absence of the teacher, assisting students with physical or medical needs (including feeding and toileting), escorting students to activities, implementing behavior management plans, potential medication administration, and possible driving of students on field trips. Requires ASL fluency and the ability to work as part of an educational team in an in-person, 11-month, full-time role at Marie Philip School in Framingham, MA.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Conversational fluency in American Sign Language (native or near-native ASL preferred)
- Ability to work effectively as part of an educational team
- Prior experience working with children preferred
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
