Elementary Behavior Interventionist (Grades 4&5)

Job Summary

Conduct one-on-one and group therapeutic processing sessions, assess student needs, and develop individual behavior plans with weekly follow-ups. Observe, document, and maintain data on student behavior, attendance, and academic progress while evaluating information to make recommendations. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and social workers to implement proactive behavior supports and coaching strategies. Assist staff in developing behavior management techniques, model effective classroom strategies, and supervise students during unstructured times. Respond to crisis calls using approved de-escalation strategies and provide immediate practical assistance to increase social and behavioral skills. Support implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans, Functional Behavior Assessments, and character education curricula. Communicate professionally with families regarding progress, connect them with community resources, and maintain FERPA confidentiality. Participate in MTSS, IEP, and problem-solving meetings as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an Associate's degree or two years of higher education equivalent to 48 credit hours or ability to pass a formal assessment (WorkKeys)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with elementary age children
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with a concentration in education, psychology, social work, counseling, related field
  • Experience working with children exhibiting challenging behaviors
  • Knowledge of PBIS, trauma-informed practices, de-escalation techniques, and behavior intervention strategies
