Job Summary
Performs difficult professional work providing a broad range of teaching services in an elementary setting; establishes a flexible elementary grade program and class environment to foster learning; teaches a broad range of subjects; develops lesson plans, translates plans into learning experiences, and uses instructional materials; integrates subject area content and technology; teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, music and other subjects; maintains standards of behavior, communicates with parents, and keeps records including progress reports and report cards; participates in curriculum development, IEP/BIP meetings, and professional growth activities; requires strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community; must pursue Virginia teaching licensure within the one-year employment term and commit to working for Suffolk Public Schools for a minimum of two years upon eligibility for a teaching license; educational description notes that responsibilities include various duties as illustrated and not exhaustive.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Successful experience working with students in a classroom setting preferred
