Job Summary
Associate Principal for Instruction (K-12) at Des Moines Public Schools (McKinley Elementary and Monroe Elementary) leads instructional leadership and equity efforts to improve student achievement and staff performance. Responsibilities include supervising and coaching staff, planning and delivering professional development, coordinating school improvement and intervention initiatives, analyzing data to monitor progress, and advancing a school culture focused on continuous improvement, collaboration, and equity. Requires Iowa Administrator certification with Evaluator Approval or willingness to obtain and a Master's degree in educational leadership; 230-day contract with 8-hour days; reports to Building Principal; responsible for evaluating staff and collaborating with families and community partners to meet student needs. Strong communication, knowledge of equity-centered leadership practices, curriculum and assessment best practices, and ability to work with diverse populations are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Iowa Administrator certification with Evaluator Approval or willingness to obtain
- Master's degree in educational leadership
- Prior educational leadership experience
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Knowledge of research-based, equitable leadership practices, curriculum development, instructional and assessment best practices, student behavior management systems, PLCs, personnel evaluation
