Job Summary

Elementary .6 Art Teacher at Alpine Elementary in Kenowa Hills Public Schools. Delivers standards-aligned visual arts instruction across multiple elementary grades, using hands-on, project-based learning to foster creativity, critical thinking, and student expression. Responsibilities include MTSS-informed differentiation, IEP/504 accommodations, CKH-related relationship-centered practices, classroom management, collaboration with teachers and support staff, and ongoing assessment of student performance and engagement. Requires Michigan teaching certificate with Art Education endorsement (or ability to obtain), a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field, and on-site, in-person work. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in Art Education or related field, integrated STEAM experiences, diverse media proficiency, and experience curating exhibitions. Required Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Art Education endorsement, or ability to obtain one prior to employment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Visual Arts Standards and grade-level benchmarks
  • Experience with elementary-aged students through student teaching, practicum, or prior employment
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons across multiple grade levels (K–5)
  • Strong classroom management skills that promote creativity, inclusion, safety, and student engagement
  • Commitment to equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive instructional practices
  • Willingness to participate in district-provided training opportunities, including CPI, CPR/First Aid, and district instructional initiatives
  • Experience with or willingness to support MTSS, small group instruction, and differentiated learning environments

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support)
  • Experience with or willingness to support CKH (Capturing Kids’ Hearts) or Related relationship-centered practices
  • Proficiency with a variety of media and techniques (2D, 3D, digital, ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media)
  • Experience integrating art with core content areas (STEAM, literacy, mathematics, social studies)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, families, and administrators
  • Willingness to participate in district-provided training (CPI, CPR/First Aid)
  • Commitment to equitable, inclusive instructional practices
  • Experience with differentiation and small group instruction
  • Ability to design developmentally appropriate lessons across K–5
  • Experience with MTSS and intervention strategies
  • Ability to implement IEPs and 504 Plans with fidelity
  • Experience curating student artwork for exhibitions
  • Strong classroom management and inclusive learning environment
  • Passionate about student creativity and expression
  • Ability to manage materials, schedules, and multiple grade levels
  • Strong relationship-building and student voice emphasis
  • Experience teaching art in an elementary setting
