Job Summary
Diagnose, repair, and maintain complex electronic, electromechanical, and traffic control equipment for Intelligent Transportation Systems, including traffic signals, fiber optics, and network devices. Perform preventative maintenance on dynamic message signs, CCTV cameras, and communication towers, utilizing electronic test equipment and operating platform trucks. Troubleshoot defective devices by reading schematics and following oral or written instructions. Assist Traffic System Technicians as required and operate a personal computer for daily tasks. Employees are subject to emergency call-backs during off-hours for essential duties. Valid driver's license, DMV records check, drug screen, and criminal history check are required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong understanding of electronic theory
- Proficient skills in using Microsoft Office software products (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to read and work from plans, schematics, and displays
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to troubleshoot and locate defective devices and make repairs
- Ability to use electronic test equipment, fiber optics test equipment, hand and power tools
- Ability to operate a personal computer
- Ability to climb communication towers to repair cameras and communication equipment
- Ability to operate a variety of motor vehicles and trucks including platform or bucket trucks
- Valid driver's license
- DMV records check

- 90-day probation period
- Required VDOT/Industry Training
- Potential for significant periods of sitting or standing
- May be subject to short or no-notice work assignments
- Monitored performance with routine evaluation

- All duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations
