On-siteLondon, England, United Kingdom
Job Summary
Design high-assurance electronic hardware from requirements through production, owning the full lifecycle for sophisticated PCBs featuring high-speed digital, FPGA, and mixed-signal circuitry. Independently diagnose and resolve complex issues using structured root-cause analysis with lab equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. Collaborate directly with firmware and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration while mentoring junior staff and contributing to design reviews. Make well-reasoned trade-off decisions on EMC behavior, thermal performance, and reliability, driving designs from compliance and certification to manufacturing handover.
Required Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or similar
- A proven track record of independently delivering multi-layer PCB designs (high-speed digital, power, mixed-signal)
- Solid experience with Altium Designer - schematic capture through to layout
- Confidence diagnosing hardware with real lab equipment and structured fault-finding techniques
- Experience taking designs through the full lifecycle, including HW/FW integration and manufacturing transition
- The judgement to make well-reasoned trade-off decisions and explain your rationale clearly
Desired Qualifications
- Python or C scripting for test automation or data analysis
- FPGA development experience (VHDL)
- Familiarity with EMC compliance standards or reliability methods (FMEA, derating)
