Job Summary
Electronics Shop Manager at Harvard SEAS leads advanced engineering work supporting research and teaching in SEAS/Physics Electronics Shop. Responsibilities include consulting on and designing, fabricating, testing, and troubleshooting custom electronic systems and instrumentation for diverse research applications; providing operational shop leadership, including equipment, safety practices, inventory, and documentation; mentoring students and staff; and coordinating shop workflows and safety compliance. The role requires broad expertise across analog, digital, mixed-signal, embedded, sensing, and RF/microwave systems; experience with schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, microcontrollers/embedded platforms, FPGA-based platforms, data acquisition, instrument integration, and diagnostic testing; strong project management and communication skills; and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, researchers, and students in a university setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field required.
- Minimum of eight years of relevant experience in an electronics laboratory, instrumentation development environment, research engineering setting, or similar technical role.
- Demonstrated experience with designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting custom electronic instrumentation.
