Job Summary
Test and implement electrical systems, monitor preventive maintenance schedules, and repair electronic systems for the Automated Surface Observation System. Perform startup, field modifications, and 90-day preventive maintenance on meteorological equipment while maintaining inventory of components and tools. Complete daily reports, expense reports, and maintenance logs. Work with customers and technical support to resolve escalated issues. Occasional travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience utilizing electrical, electro-mechanical or electronics related equipment with a proficiency in electronics, electrical theory or similar discipline
- Computer literacy with standard business applications
- Complete competence at utilizing test and diagnostic equipment such as digital voltmeter, AC clamp meter and other electronic test devices
- Fully adept at reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and theory of operation manuals
- Thorough understanding of principles of AC and DC power, various AC and DC supply circuit components
- Appropriate safety techniques and practices associated with job requirements
- Ability to write business reports, correspondence, procedures, effectively present information and respond to customer questions
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects up to 70 pounds
- Occasional travel required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using electronic testing equipment and reading wiring diagrams and schematics
- Experience with drawing programs
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools
