Job Summary
Electronics Engineer III contributes to the design, development, and support of motor controls and associated accessories. Participates in testing, implements OEM-specific hardware, and collaborates with manufacturing, PCB designers, quality, and software groups. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative with strong interest in cross-border employment and a positive assignment life cycle. Responsibilities include designing motor control electronics from low voltage DC to 480Vac products, creating specifications, BOMs, test procedures, overseeing prototype and validation phases, supporting production integration, and ensuring robust software and hardware designs with extensive use of embedded C, RTOS, and power-electronics knowledge. Travel to off-site locations for testing and customer support is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of applicable experience in a product development environment
- Experience in power electronics products; inverters, dc-dc converters and switching power supplies
- Working knowledge in the design of conditioning and sensing circuitry for adjustable speed drives
- Proficient in developing embedded code in C and assembly
- Experience working with peripherals and communications protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, UART, Modbus, CAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP, A/D converters and discrete I/O
- Experience in configuring and developing code for a Real Time Operating System
- Experience working with voltage levels, protection, and component selections up to 480Vac
- Familiar with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DVMs, signal generators, power supplies and other standard EE lab equipment
- Possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for the repair of digital circuits and analog circuits to component levels
- Experience in best practices for creating robust and quality software programs
- Desirable: SCR, TRIAC, IGBT and MOSFET technology
- Desirable: Gate driver circuits for IGBTs, MOSFETs and fly-back topologies
- Desirable: Development environments, JTAG and debugging tools (Code Composer Studio, Code Warrior)
- Desirable: Matlab and Simulink
- Desirable: Troubleshooting electro-mechanical test systems
- English language proficiency
- 5-7 years related experience
- 5+ years in product development environment
