Job Summary
Electronic Test Equipment Designer responsible for generating designs for automated functional testing of PCBA’s and sub racks in a manufacturing environment; develop hardware and software test solutions based on a Test Specification, and support integration and validation of simulators and SLMDs. Role involves maintaining and troubleshooting automated test equipment in Toronto and at contract manufacturers, collaborating with global peers to release new production test solutions, integrating hardware and software phases of simulators and SLMD validation, and designing simulators with requirements reviews, design generation, and release. Proficiency in LabVIEW and TestStand (NI equipment), Python and Visual Basic scripting, strong troubleshooting, and clear communication with stakeholders; degree in electrical/computer engineering or mechatronics and preferred PE designation. The position requires 5+ years of relevant experience and fluency in English, with strong writing and interpersonal skills for interactions with internal/external partners.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronic hardware and system design in the rail, transportation or similar safety critical industries
- University bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer engineering, mechatronics or relevant degree
- Thorough working knowledge and experience using LabView and TestStand software and familiarity with NI equipment
- Scripting knowledge using Python and Visual Basic
- English language fluency and well-developed writing skills for reports and documentation
- Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills to work with stakeholders and customers at any level
