Job Summary
Electronic Technician, Senior responsible for installation, operation and maintenance of sophisticated instrumentation and remote data telemetry in a water/wastewater environment. Responsibilities include installing, repairing, calibrating instrumentation and controls; responding to equipment failures; maintaining test and repair equipment; updating procedures; interpreting engineering drawings and one-line diagrams; maintaining records and work orders; procuring spare parts; drafting bid specifications; supervising one or more Electronic Technicians (training, scheduling, performance evaluation); and potentially performing Chief Electronic Technician duties. Requires strong knowledge of AC/DC electronics, industrial instrumentation, telemetry systems, safety (confined space, arc flash, PPE), and ability to read manuals and schematics; travel/emergency readiness and supervisory duties are noted.
Required Qualifications
- Four years of related experience in the repair and maintenance of sophisticated electronic equipment
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- State of Texas Journeyman electrical license preferred
- Current Class II Collection System or Class C or Operator license (Class C Water Operator license for water plant) or ability to obtain within two years from date of hire
- thorough knowledge of AC/DC analog and digital electronics; understanding of industrial instrumentation process control
- ability to read operation and maintenance manuals, schematics, blueprints, and safety data sheets
- ability to calculate mathematical formulas and perform calculations
- experience with maintenance records and work order management systems
- ability to supervise and train Electronic Technicians; ability to schedule and evaluate performance
- willingness to report to work during emergencies or inclement weather
- safety knowledge including confined space entry regulations and PPE usage
