Job Summary
Execute and oversee installation, programming, commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting of electronic security and access control systems with complete independence. Lead installation or service teams on medium to large projects, providing direction and ensuring work meets project specifications. Serve as the senior field escalation point for complex technical issues, diagnosing and resolving advanced system failures across CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection platforms. Interpret engineered drawings and technical documentation to identify discrepancies and recommend field-appropriate solutions. Mentor Technicians I-III on installation methods, system configuration, and professional field conduct. Collaborate with Project Managers to forecast material needs, identify risks, and support schedule planning. Perform preventive maintenance inspections, prepare reports, and conduct customer demonstrations and technical briefings. Represent GC&E professionally during interactions and provide advanced technical input to engineering and sales teams for design and cost estimates. Minimum of 12-15+ years of experience required; valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to travel as required and work during standard or assigned hours
- Expert-level understanding of access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and related security technologies
- Ability to read, interpret, and redline engineered drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Proficiency with advanced test equipment, diagnostic tools, and digital measurement instruments
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide teams, manage field activities, and support multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum of 12-15+ years of experience installing, configuring, commissioning, and troubleshooting electronic security systems
- Demonstrated experience leading installation or service teams and resolving complex technical issues independently
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, humidity, etc.)
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and working on ladders or lifts
- Ability to use PPE and work safely around electrical and construction environments
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods
Desired Qualifications
- Experience or certifications with the following manufacturers are a plus: Genetec, Software House, Hirsch, Avigilon, Axis Communications, Hanwha Vision, Honeywell IDS, Open Options, Bosch IDS
- Expert knowledge installing and troubleshooting electronic locking hardware
- Technical College training
- Familiarity with BICSI and RCDD design standards; ability to interpret RCDD-developed drawings and specifications
- Manufacturer certifications in access control, CCTV, or IDS
- Advanced IP networking knowledge (VLANs, PoE, routing, switching)
- Experience with cloud-based physical security platforms
- Experience supporting system integrations or multi-site enterprise deployments
