Job Summary
Conduct visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies at various supplier facilities. Report inspection accept/reject information directly to the customer based on engineering drawings, purchase orders, and industry standards. Interpret GD&T requirements using mechanical inspection tools such as micrometers and calipers to perform in-process and final inspections. Execute First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 standards for aerospace or military/defence manufacturing.
Required Qualifications
- practical experience performing in-process and final inspections on machined parts, assemblies, and/or sub-assemblies
- ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and Purchase Orders (POs)
- experience using various mechanical inspection tools, such as micrometers and calipers
- experience performing First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with the AS9102 standard
- knowledge of applicable industry standards like IPC-A-610 or equivalent
- minimum of five years experience performing inspections in aerospace or military/defence manufacturing
- proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Comfortable working as an independent contractor
- IPC-A-610 (knowledge / experience – previous cert. acceptable)
- Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies, Class 3 (High-Performance/Medical/Aerospace)
Desired Qualifications
- experience performing inspections to engineering requirements specified per ANSI Y14.5 – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) or equivalent standard
- Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with the AS9102 standard
- knowledge of applicable industry standards like IPC-A-610 or equivalent
- IPC-J-STD-001
