Job Summary
Design mechanical assemblies and fixtures for PCBA and product-level test systems. Develop electromechanical fixtures with tight tolerances and pneumatic/manually actuated assemblies. Lead DFx decisions (DFM/DFT) and enable complex analysis with FEA. Build and source large electromechanical fixtures for manufacturing test systems; integrate CAD designs into PLM systems; collaborate with rapid fabrication teams or 3rd party suppliers; train technicians on equipment; design and implement next-generation test systems and thermal solutions (heatsinks for RF) while contributing to PCBA and harness designs for optimal thermal management. Ensure robust and repeatable product testing through multidisciplinary collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years of hands on mechanical engineering experience, designing for test and/or manufacturing
- Experience with sheet metal design, 3D printing and CNC machining
- Experience with contract manufacturers, in-house fabrication, and prototyping process
- Experience with PCBA test fixturing design
- Familiarity with electronics test equipment such as load cells, strain gauges, multimeters, etc.
- Strong root cause analysis skills
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiar with PLM (Teamcenter or equivalent)
- Proven track record of past designs integrating electrical components into mechanical assemblies
- Working knowledge and proper application of GD&T
- Experience with MCAD (NX, SolidWorks, CATIA)
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
