Job Summary
The Electro-Mechanical Instrument Co-op at Draper involves supporting R&D of precision inertial guidance instruments. Responsibilities include electro-mechanical design, thermal model development, magnetics design, materials testing, hardware assembly, testing, and debugging. Interns will utilize CAD tools for instrument design, collaborate with machine shops for component machinability, and engage in 3D printing production. Candidates are expected to have a solid foundation in engineering principles, experience with CAD software like CREO and SolidWorks, and additional skills in software such as ANSYS, COMSOL, LabVIEW, and MATLAB.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics or similar field
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Hands-on experience in relevant fields
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with mechanical design using CREO or Solid Works
- Design, precision mechanics, magnetics, thermal control, electro-mechanical, fluids, circuit theory, machine shop interaction, technical assembly, Excel, LabVIEW, MATLAB, MCAD
