Job Summary

Conduct physical integration and precision hand-soldering of high-reliability spaceflight hardware, including installing structural frames onto PCBs, building electronics boxes, and fabricating wire harnesses. Perform component preparation, chassis integration, and mechanical box build assembly while working under a stereo microscope. Utilize voltmeters, scales, and automated/manual soldering equipment to translate blueprints into mechanical assemblies per engineering drawings. Inspect work at various stages to ensure compliance with IPC standards, tolerances, and safety protocols, creating non-conforming material reviews as needed. Collaborate with experienced technicians and follow written instructions from process and manufacturing engineers.

Required Qualifications

  • Active or past solder certifications to IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum)
  • Must be able to obtain IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum) certification within the first 30 days of employment
  • At least 5 years of experience in high-precision soldering
  • Experience in electronic box builds
  • Experience with crimping techniques for avionics wiring and connectors
  • Experience with mechanical chassis assembly
  • Understanding of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness
  • Proficiency with precision mechanical tools (calibrated torque wrenches, calipers)
  • Proficiency with hand-soldering equipment under a microscope for extended periods
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • US Citizenship
