Job Summary
Plan and implement lesson plans aligned to the program curriculum while incorporating provided educational materials. Maintain records of attendance and communicate regularly with the supervisor. Participate in relevant professional development activities as available. Deliver instruction on basic electricity concepts for residential construction to diverse student populations. Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at 25 W. 18th Street, Manhattan, with additional slots potentially available. The role supports the union's mission to equip workers with tools for a changing industry.
Required Qualifications
- Sound knowledge of basic electricity concepts and skills as they relate to residential construction
- 5 years of experience in the electrical industry
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data
- Record of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption
- Compliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organization
- Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings
- Teachers looking to empower workers through industry skills education
