Job Summary
Electrician to perform journey-level electrical construction, installation, alteration, troubleshooting, and commissioning on electrical systems up to 600 volts across UW facilities. Responsibilities include electrical construction, installation, retrofit, troubleshooting, commissioning, and repair of lighting systems, circuitry, raceways, panel boards, transformers, switchgear, distribution equipment, and grounding. Operate equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts, high rangers), transport materials, and support job sites; coordinate with leads, supervisors, and campus partners; ensure safety and compliance with SDS, HRCs, PPE, and UW policies. Works Monday–Friday 6:55 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. at the Seattle campus; not eligible for telework. Requires applicable apprenticeship/journey status or equivalent experience and may require an electrical license; location is Seattle, WA; typical duties include collaboration with trades and contractors to deliver electrical services for campus infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician; OR full journey status as an electrician in a union; OR four years’ applicable work experience.
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license may be required.
- Maintaining a valid Washington State EL-01 Electrical License may qualify for a 10% Trades License Premium, subject to bargaining agreement.
