Job Summary
Maintain all electrical devices, including new construction installations, and troubleshoot electrical problems at all levels. Respond to maintenance requests, report status to the electrical foreman, and make repairs adhering to the National Electric Code. Install and troubleshoot electrical systems while utilizing specialized equipment such as fusion splicers and OTDR test equipment. Read blueprints and schematics to interpret test results, directing skilled workers when necessary. Perform duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure the efficient operation of the school system. Requires a valid state driver's license, electrician's license preference, and minimum six years of on-the-job experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Valid state driver's license
- Minimum six years of on-the-job experience with specialized equipment such as fusion splicers, and OTDR test equipment and have knowledge of their operation
- Must be able to troubleshoot electrical controls and repair them
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Leadership ability to direct a skilled worker or helper
- Extensive understanding of electrical systems and how they work
- Must understand how to interpret the results of the test equipment
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Two-year degree from an accredited trade school is preferred with the approved courses
- Electrician's License is preferred
