Job Summary
Layout, install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complicated electrical equipment and circuits while troubleshooting control systems and diagnosing malfunctions to avoid production delays. Analyze electrical issues, read wiring schematics, and follow OSHA safety procedures during daily work involving bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operating mobile equipment. Work flexible shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays with little notice, often requiring overtime. Complete comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and background checks as part of the hiring process.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Electrical trade
- six (6) years of documented experience as an Electrician
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
- Quick response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals
- Ability to work and stand for extended periods
- Comfortably wear personal protective equipment
- Navigate a busy environment
- Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach
- May need to lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs
- Drive mobile equipment when needed
