Job Summary
Conduct layout, installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of complicated electrical equipment and circuits while troubleshooting control systems. Analyze electrical malfunctions to diagnose and correct problems quickly, avoiding production delays. Follow established safety procedures per OSHA standards and company protocols. Read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics to perform corrective maintenance on all plant equipment. Participate in continuous improvement activities and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Work flexible shift hours including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays with little notice.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Electrical trade
- six (6) years of documented experience as an Electrician
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
- Quick response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals
- Ability to work and stand for extended periods
- Comfortably wear personal protective equipment
- Navigate a busy environment
- Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach
- May need to lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. depending on department
- Drive mobile equipment when needed
