Job Summary
Electrical Journeyperson for water and wastewater treatment plant projects in the Ottawa area. Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layout. Cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings. Pull wire and cable through conduits; install distribution and control equipment such as switches, relays, circuit breakers and fuse enclosures; install single and multi-wire cables above and underground; install data cabling and fibre optic and signalling systems. Requires knowledge of the heavy construction industry and associated practices, procedures, tools, materials, quality control and safety. Furnished accommodations provided to qualified non-local candidates. Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures; plan layout based on job specifications and local codes; ensure compliance with codes; supervise work; perform related duties and maintain safety.
Required Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Electricians license
- Experience in heavy construction environment
- Ability to read blueprints/drawings
- Hazardous location installation experience
- Experience with instrumentation installation and troubleshooting
- Experience with 600V and 120V distribution installation and troubleshooting
- Experience with rigid steel conduit, cable tray, high voltage systems, EMT conduit
- Knowledge of safe operation of tools
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
- Valid WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers and Working at Heights/Fall Arrest certificates are required
