Job Summary
General Motors is seeking qualified Industrial Electrician Journeypersons responsible for layout, installation, repair and preventative maintenance of complex electrical equipment and circuits, troubleshooting and applying expertise to control systems. Key duties include following OSHA safety procedures, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, diagnosing and correcting electrical malfunctions to prevent production delays, performing preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, reading and interpreting drawings and wiring schematics, contributing to continuous improvement, and collaborating with other departments. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, ability to work extended shifts with possible overtime, and eligibility to work in the United States. The position may be filled as Journeyperson or Journeyperson in Training; compensation ranges include hourly rates converted to annual values. Relocation is the applicant's responsibility. Applicants may be required to complete role-related assessments and pre-employment screenings as part of GM's hiring process; GM does not provide immigration sponsorship for this role.
Required Qualifications
- Six (6) years of related experience as an Electrician or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the GM hiring process requirements (assessments, drug testing, background check)
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Willing to work flexible shift hours including day, afternoon or night, plus overtime daily, weekends and holidays
