Job Summary
Industrial Electrician Journeyperson role at General Motors in Alden, NY. Responsible for layout, installation, repair and preventative maintenance of electrical equipment and control systems; troubleshoot electrical malfunctions; read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics; perform safety procedures per OSHA standards; participate in continuous improvement; flexible to work day, afternoon or night shifts with overtime and on weekends/holidays; must meet six years of related experience or have a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade; eligible to work in the United States; undergoing GM hiring process including assessments, drug testing, and background check; relocation/travel expenses are applicant's responsibility; union context with potential journeyperson or Journeyperson In Training status; UAW-related disclosures and labor agreement sharing may occur.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience as an Electrician or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
