Job Summary
Industrial Electrician Journeyperson at General Motors in West Falls, NY. The role involves layout, installation, repair and preventative maintenance of complex electrical equipment and circuits, troubleshooting and providing technical expertise on control systems. Responsibilities include following OSHA and company safety procedures, maintaining and repairing electrical equipment, diagnosing and correcting malfunctions to avoid production delays, performing preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, promoting teamwork across departments, participating in continuous improvement activities, reading and interpreting drawings and wiring schematics, and applying strong problem-solving skills. The position may require flexible shift hours (day, afternoon or night) with overtime, weekends, and holidays. The role may be filled as Journeyperson or Journeyperson In Training with compensation ranges and certifications determining status; relocation/travel expenses are the applicant’s responsibility.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience as an Electrician or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
