Job Summary
Electrician II at Basin Electric's Laramie River Station in Wheatland, WY. Responsible for inspection, repair, installation, and wiring of plant electrical and electronic apparatus across up to 600V AC/DC, including near 350 kV AC, and for service/repair on electrical equipment such as splicing, soldering, and repairing cords, switches, and light sockets. Acts to assist Lead Electrician and other roles; may provide instruction for Apprentice Electrician. Requires performing work under safety and CIP requirements; duties include troubleshooting, procuring materials, and maintaining equipment and plant systems to maximize availability. Qualifications include an associate’s degree in Electrical Technology with 3 years of related experience, or an approved electrical apprenticeship with 2 years of experience, or a high school diploma and 5 years of experience; plus 1 year of experience as an Electrician at an operating industrial/power plant and a valid driver’s license; CIP-related access and safety policies apply.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in an Electrical Technology program and 3 years of related electrical experience; or
- An approved electrical apprenticeship and 2 years of related electrical experience; or
- A high school diplima or equivalent (GED or HSED); and 5 years of experience as an electrician or instrumentation technician.
- 1 year experience as an Electrician at an operating industrial or power plant.
- A valid driver’s license.
- This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.
